Kang Jin-hwan, CEO of Qnes Global, is a "jjin" manufacturer who has been in the mold production business for the past 24 years and always thinks about the future of the mold industry. I majored in mechanical design and mold engineering in college. Now, you can rely on your career and experience to go comfortably, but CEO Kang recently enrolled in graduate school. He was determined to wrestle with books again at the age of the divine will.

Continuously challenging new fields and never hesitating to learn Kang Jin-hwan was met by CAPA at the Qnes Global office on the 25th. Below is a Q&A with CEO Kang Jin-hwan.

Q> I heard there are three degrees

"I graduated from Inha Technical University with a bachelor's degree in mechanical design in 1992 and a bachelor's degree in mold engineering from Polytechnic University in 2020. This year, he started his master's degree in business administration at Inha University's Graduate School of Business, and there will be three when he completes his degree in 2024.”

Q> I've been working at the mold design site for more than 20 years, and the reason I came to the school again is

"The know-how accumulated in the field is important, but I thought it was also important to build theoretical knowledge." I worked in the field for a long time, but I didn't think I knew it all. I decided to start studying if there was anything else I could learn, and I had no hesitation.”

Q> Why did you go to business school when you were an engineer?

"The number of employees increased to 13 in two years after establishing Qnes Global, which specializes in ultra-small injection, in 2020. As a mechanical design major, I thought the company would do well if the company simply developed the "ultra-small injection machine" technology that the company focuses on. But that's not the case with people. There have been many concerns such as how to do personnel affairs and how to manage the organization. So I chose the school again. He became a business school student at the age of 50.”

CEO Kang has had a career in mold injection for more than 20 years, except for a year or two when he sidelongated 3D printing for a while. Even for CEO Kang, ultra-small injection was an unfamiliar field. What attracted him to the micro-injection?

Q> How did you connect with a micro-injector?

"There was a time when I was in the 3D printing business for a while, about two years before the establishment of Qnes Global. At that time, a salesperson who visited the company to sell 3D printers showed me a video. A micro-injector from Japan was operating, and it was a video of a human-powered micro-injector creating sophisticated products. I knew about the micro-injector before, but I was doubtful. However, it was different when I actually watched the video. I thought, "That's it!"”

Q> Describe the characteristics and advantages of 'ultra-small injection'

"3m This is literally an 'ultra-small' ejector, which reduces the general ejector to 30cm. Normal ejectors were complicated and difficult to operate, so only experts could operate them and were expensive. Because of this, small production was impossible in the first place. In other words, the barriers to entry were so high.

but microinjection is different. Ordinary customers who do not have knowledge of injection can also come to the office and be guided for about 15 minutes before handling it directly. It is easy, convenient, inexpensive, and can be produced in small quantities.

Because of its small size, mold manufacturing costs are reduced by about 50% compared to regular injection. There is no restriction on MOQ (minimum order quality: the minimum quantity to produce to make a profit). The product capacity varies from 10g to 18g to 25g.

The cost of injection is also low. In particular, if the material itself is expensive, it is advantageous to work with ultra-small injection. For example, "medical PLA" sometimes costs 25 million won per fist, and ultra-small injection is more advantageous when using high-cost materials. The product spectrum ranges from needles to satellite components.”

Q> Medical equipment products are also produced by ultra-small injection.

"It covers almost all small products, such as reagent barrels, suction into needles, and screws that join skin or human tissues. Medical materials are divided into stages, such as whether they only touch the skin, enter the mouth, or enter the body, and the cost of the material itself is often high. In addition, since it is used directly on the human body, it can be mass-produced only when 300 to 400 test products are passed before making the main product. In this case, manufacturing with ultra-small injection can save time and cost.”
